Jessie Leona Hood (Smith)

Jessie Leona Hood, 86 of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at John Knox Village. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m., until service time Tuesday at the chapel. A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Jessie was born October 19, 1929 in Wewoka, OK to Jess and Ruth (Pearce) Smith. She had worked as a secretary most of her life most recently for the Board of Education in Kansas City, KS. She enjoyed music and playing the piano. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She is survived by: her loving husband of 66 years, Marvin Hood of the home; 3 children, Mike Hood and wife Lyn, Sheree Brown and husband Terry and Steve Hood and wife Kathy; a sister, Essie Barnhart; 2 brothers, Edmund Smith and Dennis Smith; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
