Joanne Opal (Doutt) Horn
Joanne Opal Horn, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Sunday August 14, 2022. She was 88 years of age.
Joanne was born on February 8, 1934, in St. Edward, Nebraska, the daughter of William A. and Opal (Dodson) Doutt. Joanne and her family moved to the Independence area at a young age. She attended and graduated from William Chrisman High School. On March 18, 1967, Joanne married the love of her life and her best friend Kenneth Horn. Joanne was a homemaker and enjoyed being present for her family and friends. In her spare time, she would sew and do crafts. After Kenneth’s retirement, Joanne and Kenneth would pack up their camper and travel to varions favorite family spots to camp out for a weekend or so, a pastime they loved to do together. Joanne was a wonderful woman who loved her family dearly. She will be deeply missed.
Joanne is survived by her children, Lori Mullikin, Darlena Wheeler, Kevin (Jackie) Horn, JoEllen Horn, Kenneth Horn, Marvin Horn; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Ellen Bloomquist; many extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Horn; parents, William and Opal Doutt; and her other siblings.
A visitation and funeral service will take place at Carson Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052 on Friday, August 26, 2022. Family will receive guest between the hours of 9-10 am with services starting at 10 am. Joanne will be laid to rest in Mt. Washington Cemetery in Independence, MO. Interment will follow directly after the service.
