James David Horne, 75, of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 22 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. James was born September 3, 1935 in Independence, MO the son of Frederick and Alberta (Jenkins) Horne. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1953 and proudly served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Horne was a member of the Summit Grove Congregation of the Community of Christ. James was a life-time member of the Sugar Creek American Legion Post #340 and had been a member of the Knights of Pythias. He retired as a Janitor for Mill Creek Grade School. Mr. Horne is survived by his sons Tom Horne, Richard Horne and wife Marci; siblings Charles Horne, Judy Bennett, Lee Jenkins and wife Dorothy, Eleanor Hergert, Eva Frances Jenkins, Kay Barclay, George Allen Jenkins; and by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Nadene (Daugherty) Horne in ’97.
