Betty Horton

Betty Jean Horton, 81 of Independence, MO, passed away, Friday, October 22, 2010 at Wilshire at Lakewood. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Betty was born April 28, 1929 in Independence, MO to David and Irene Childers and has been a lifelong area resident graduating from William Chrisman in 1945. She worked as a timekeeper for the Lake City Ammunition Plant for over 35 years from 1951-86 and later worked as a clerk for Wal-Mart for over 21 years from 1989 to the present. She enjoyed shopping. She is survived by; a son, Leonard Horton of Independence, MO; 3 sisters, Jo-Ann Ginson of Lee’s Summit, MO, Phyllis Camerlynck and Carol Childers both of Independence, MO; a brother, David Childers of Independence, MO.
