Billy “Bill” Lee Horton, 80, formerly of Independence MO, passed away on Thursday May 7, 2015. He was born September 3, 1934 in Omage, Arkansas to Bunyan and Della (Morrison) Horton. He married his beloved Evelyn (Treat) on December 17, 1955 in Searcy County, Arkansas; and together they raised six children. Bill and Evelyn moved to Kansas City, MO in 1959 where he worked for Prier Brass Manufacturing Company for 29 years, and then went to work for LPF Plastics for 5 years before retirement. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved to be outdoors, always tinkering with something. Early on, he enjoyed coon hunting and bowling. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting other game, and watching wrestling, Royals baseball and the Kansas City Chiefs. For the last thirteen years he and his wife enjoyed a new life in Mack’s Creek, MO. His family remembers him as funny, joyful, and a giving, simple man who faithfully loved his family. He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Evelyn; daughter, Billie Brown and husband Earl; son, Bobby Horton and wife Jenelle; daughter, Rene Stidham; son, Gary Horton; daughter, Sonia Gonzalez and husband Victor; and daughter, Becky Brewer and husband Brian. He also leaves behind 22 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; brother, Eugene “Jitter” Horton and wife Sue; and his beloved dog Coco. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; half sister; three half brothers; and grandson, Gary Donovan “Joey” Horton. A visitation will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence MO., from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 12. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel.
