Dorothy Hottman

Dorothy Alice Hottman, 97 of Pleasant Valley, MO passed away, Saturday, February 9, 2013 at her residence. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, MO 64052 with inurnment to follow in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Wednesday at the chapel. Donations to the American Heart Association in honor of her great granddaughter. Dorothy was born September 4, 1915 in Kansas City, MO to Bernard and Mary (Anderson) Ellsworth and has been a lifelong area resident graduating from Northeast High School. She had worked for over 30 years at the Social Security Administration, retiring as a claims examiner. She enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter and great granddaughter and was very active in animal rescue efforts, senior volunteer groups such as the Pleasant Valley Seniors Group and the Gladstone Seniors Group, where she was active in the choir and was the oldest living alumni of Northeast High School. She was a member of the Liberty congregation of the Community of Christ. She was married to Darald Hottman who preceded her in death in 1977. Survivors include; a daughter, Marilyn Sakata and husband John Larson of Anthem, AZ; a son, Terry Hottman and his wife Carol of Cottonwood Heights, UT; a granddaughter, Allison Salmon and husband Scott and their daughter, Sydney Salmon of Springdale, AR; special friends, Cindy Whitlock and Dan Sakata and her beloved cats, Princess, Andi, Domino and Smokey.
