Chloy Howell, 84, of Oak Grove, passed away Tuesday, February 12th 2013. A visitation will be held 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday February 17th at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W Lexington Ave, Independence, MO. A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 18th at the chapel. Burial will be at Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence.
Chloy was born August 25th 1928 to Ralph and Sadie Mae (Harber) Dorrance in Kansas City, MO. She attended Northeast Junior High and later married Alvin J. Howell. Together they had four children. Chloy worked for many years in the coat factory in Sugar Creek, then as a cook for Nowland Jr. High School and afterwards joined her husband fixing watches in their business, Howells Watch and Clock. She loved children especially her grandchildren. Chloy loved being outdoors by the lake or camping. She was especially talented with baking pies and making fudge. Chloy is loved and will be missed.
She is survived by daughter, Carol Anderson (Gene) of Bates City, MO; daughter, Connie Crane of Independence, MO; son, Alvin Howell of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Tammy Crane; Buddy Anderson (Billie); Alvin Howell (Andrea); Rachel Ferrara (John); Andrew Howell; and nine great grandchildren. Chloy was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, and one daughter, Pam Sarno.
