Dorothy Dean Howerton (Welch)

Dorothy D. Howerton, 90 of Independence, MO passed away March 19, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Visitation will be from 9-10am Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 10am at the chapel. Burial will take place in Mound Grove Cemetery. Dorothy was born on May 8, 1926 in Independence, Mo to Arthur and Gladys (Closson) Welch. She was a graduate form William Chrisman High School. Dorothy worked for many years as a secretary/office manager for Dr. Lindgren. She took great pride in her home and her family. Survivors include; loving husband of over 72 years, Kenneth Howerton; son Steve Howerton and his wife Diana; twin sister Lois Carpenter; 2 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, brother Harold Welch, daughter Cathy Howerton; 1 great granddaughter and 2 great great grandsons.
