Frances M. Humphries, of Independence, MO died on November 5, 2011 at Monterey Park Nursing Center after a short illness. She was 101 years, 11 months and 4 days old. She was planning for her 102nd birthday. Frances was of the Methodist faith. She was born November 29, 1909 in Chilhowee, MO to John H. Best and Edith (Gladden) Best. She moved to Holden, MO in 1939 and resided there until 1959, moving to Independence at that time. Frances worked for Kroger Co. in Holden and worked for Katz Drug Co. in Independence until her retirement. After she retired, she and her friend Dollie traveled many places on the Fun Time Tours and she enjoyed many trips with Dottie and Bob, and also enjoyed going to their lake home. She loved trips to Nashville and Branson. She was a loving, wonderful mother to her two girls, Evelyn (deceased in 2006) and Dottie that survives. She was our mother but also our best friend. When her 3 grandsons were born, she was a #1 grandmother and gave them unconditional love, to the day of her death. During her stay at Monterey Park, she made countless friends, young and old, and they grieve for her with the family. A special thank you for the love and care at Monterey Park, to the ER and Intensive Care Unit at Centerpoint Hospital. Frances was preceded in death by her parents; two infant babies; Mary (9 months) Evelyn Bryant her first born; and son-in-law, Robert Pine. She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy (Dottie) Pine of Independence; grandsons, Patrick Bryant of Independence, Michael Bryant and Gary Bryant of Gainesboro, TN; great grandson, Joshua Bryant of TN; and her wonderful son-in-law, David Bryant of Independence.
