Karen Hunter of Lee’s Summit, MO, born July 2, 1955 in Kansas City, MO passed on to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 25th, 2011.
Karen graduated from Northeast High School in 1973. She worked at John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit, MO where she used her gift of compassion to provide care for the elderly. Karen shared a great love of horses with her friends Nate and Anna. Within the past year, Karen had found a home for her faith at First Baptist Church in Lee’s Summit.
Karen was the youngest of four siblings. She will be greatly missed by her brother, Kent Hunter and wife, Deanna of Andrews, TX; sisters Kathy Beagle and husband, Randy of Kansas City, MO; and Janice Herrington and her husband, Richard of Independence, MO. Aunt Karen was a favorite of her nieces and nephews as well as her great-nieces and nephews. Her beloved mother and father, Earl and Catherine Hunter and grandparents preceded Karen in death.
Services will be held at 2 pm, Monday, Jan. 31, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. She will be interred at Mt. Washington Cemetery in Independence, MO. Please designate memorial donations to First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit, 2 NE Douglas St, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063-2036.
