Ruth B. Hurley, 100, of Independence, MO passed away November 11, 2011. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 14, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Services at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, at the chapel with burial at Mound Grove Cemetery. Ruth was born February 22, 2011 in St. Joseph, MO to Bert and Meta Shirey. She was a beloved mother and grandmother, who was very close to her family. She enjoyed preparing holiday and Sunday dinners until her late 80’s. She loved vacationing and trips to the Ozarks with her family. Ruth took pride in her work, sewing, bowling, baking and canning. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hurley; two children, Benjamin Kunkle and Burgoyne (Kunkle) Meek; and two stepchildren, Sally Hurley and Ruth (Hurley) Roberts. Ruth is survived by two daughters, Peggy (Kunkle) Trussell and Joyce (Kunkle) Hurley; three stepchildren, Bonnie (Hurley) Kunkle, Louise (Hurley) Yotz and Floyd Hurley; grandchildren, Marlena (Hurley) Sackewitz, Victoria (Hurley) Stumpenhaus, Diane (Golding) Howerton, Frances (Golding) Wayson, Lee Golding, Richard Meek, Michael Meek, Kelly (Meek) Simmons, Rebecca (Trussell) Scott, Ellen (Trussell) Wilson, Janet Trussell, Benjamin Kunkle, John Kunkle, Karl Kunkle, Elizabeth Kunkle and Bradley Kunkle; 25 great grandchildren; 22 great-great grandchildren; and 6 great-great-great grandchildren.
