Bill P. Irvin, 87, of Independence, MO died January 29, 2012. A memorial visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. memorial service on Wednesday, February 1, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Bill was born December 15, 1924 in Amity, MO, the son of James and Goldie Irvin. On April 7, 1946 at the Stover Methodist Church, he married Viola “Vi” Fry, who survives of the home. Mr. Irvin was a 1943 graduate of Morganville, KS High School. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII, honorably discharged in 1946. He then attended Central Missouri University with a degree in elementary education. Mr. Irvin taught for 30 years at R5 Galt, MO, North Kansas City, and retired in 1981 from the Parkhill School District. He was an avid sports fan. He also was a lover of Colorado. He and his wife Vi spent summers in Grand Lake, CO, and after he retired they spent falls in Frisco, CO. He was a member of the Glendale, CA Christian Church. He belonged to the MSTA and the Retired Teachers Association. In addition to his wife, he is survived by nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. The family suggests memorial contributions to Crossroads Hospice or Buckner United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
