Lorene G. Jackson

Lorene Jackson, age 95, of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. She was born December 3, 1927, in Huntsville, Missouri to Thurber and Opal (Moore) Dunivent. Lorene fell in love with Jimmy L. Jackson and they were married on December 14, 1945, upon his return from Army service in World War II. They moved to Independence in the mid-1950s, where they raised their daughter, Rita Baker. Her career culminated as Personnel Manager at the Medical Center of Independence prior to retiring in 1984.
Lorene was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Independence and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was well known for her generous spirit and kindness toward others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, and sister, Patricia Cole.
Lorene’s life work included advocating for grandchildren. Her first granddaughter, Lori Baker, passed away in 2020. She is survived by two grandchildren; Jimmy Baker and Cari Baker, and two great grandchildren; Brianne Baker and Kimberlee Baker.
A visitation for Lorene will be held from 10:00-11:00am immediately followed by a funeral service at 11:00am on April 4, 2023, at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, MO. She will be laid to rest at Huntsville City Cemetery in Huntsville, MO.
