James Richard Pastena, Sr., affectionately known as Jim, passed away on July 7, 2025, in Lee's Summit, Missouri, at the age of 83. Born on August 5, 1941, in East Orange, New Jersey.
A hard worker and devoted provider, Jim spent an impressive 42 years with Honeywell before his well-deserved retirement. His steadfast commitment to excellence defined his professional life, earning him the respect of colleagues and peers alike. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Jim proudly served his country for four years in the United States Air Force, demonstrating his commitment to service both in and out of uniform.
Jim is lovingly remembered by his immediate family, including his son James R. Pastena, Jr., and wife Serena; daughter JoAnn Marie Vaught; daughter, Justine Pastena, daughter, Shelley Lewallen and husband Joe Dale; son, Myron “MJ” Johnson; his wife Yolanda Rodriguez Pastena; and his sister, Patricia Melleno and husband Felix; step-daughter and step-granddaughter, Tobi (Mark) Garcia and Gianna Garcia. He also leaves behind cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, and dear friends who will miss his presence and the warmth he brought into their lives.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Armand Joseph and Josephine Madeline Pastena, and his beloved dog, Mia, whose memories he carried with him throughout his life.
A visitation will be held on July 15, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Speaks Suburban Chapel, located at 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, MO 64055. The memorial service will take place the following day, July 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM, also at Speaks Suburban Chapel.
