James Robert Signer passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025. Jim was born on September 13, 1933 in Ironton, Missouri to John and Virginia (Sens) Signer.
He graduated from Ironton High School in the class of 1951 continuing on to graduate from University of Missouri with a BS in Statistics in 1955.
He married his college sweetheart Margot and to this union were born 3 children.
In 1976, Jim married Helen (Nicoletti) Vincent with whom he shared the remaining 49 years of his life.
Jim retired from the US Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics in 1995.
He was an active member of Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church of Blue Springs and loved fishing, woodworking, golf, reading, singing in the church choir where he carried the bass group, and spending time with family and friends.
Jim was known for his always present smile, sparkling eyes, dry wit, the unique skill of defusing tense situations at work and home, and warm loving ability to comfort and encourage others.
Jim is survived by: his wife Helen; his three children, Anna Poindexter, Timothy Signer, and Mary Signer; his two stepsons, Timothy Vincent and Anthony Vincent; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, his brother Jack, and his first wife, Margot.
A celebration of his life will be Saturday, July 26 beginning at 10am at Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church in Blue Springs, MO followed by burial at Longview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Jim had requested contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association with online gifts in memory of James Signer at www.alz.org or to Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church.
