James Edward "Jim" Taylor, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on May 23, 2025, in Kansas City, Kansas, at the age of 71. He was born on September 27, 1953, in Victoria, Texas, to David and Irene Taylor.
Jim dedicated over 30 years of his life as a millwright at Owens Corning Fiberglass, a role that showcased his hard-working nature. He was not only a dependable employee but also a craftsman who took pride in his work, always striving for excellence.
It was in his youthful days that Jim met Sondra, the love of his life, during their time in youth group. Their connection blossomed into a beautiful marriage on September 10, 1977. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, stories, and unwavering support. His family was undoubtedly his proudest accomplishment, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Jim was known for his onery personality, quick wit, and the unique ability to make friends wherever he went. He was known to be a man who did not know a stranger, effortlessly drawing people to him with his great storytelling and magnetic spirit. He also had a knack for making everyone feel appreciated and included.
Outside of work and family, Jim had a variety of hobbies he enjoyed. As a man of faith, he found solace in his spiritual life and was active in several roles within the church. He loved to hunt deer and turkey at the property in Warsaw, Missouri, where he created memories and found comfort in nature. He was an athlete and stayed active well into adulthood, participating in bowling leagues and softball teams, showcasing his competitive spirit. Beyond sports, he found joy in the simple act of caring for his home, maintaining a pristine yard, and often lending his mowing services to neighbors.
Jim's presence will be profoundly missed by those who knew him. His warmth, humor, and wisdom have left an everlasting imprint on the lives of many. Let us remember him for the love and laughter he shared, a gentle soul who lived life to the fullest.
He is survived by his wife, Sondra; children, Daniel Taylor (Sarah) and Melissa Johnson (Chris); grandchildren, Abram, Phoebe, Titus, Naomi, Lydia, Madeline, Hannah, Amelia, Joel, Josiah and Charley; and siblings, Tom Taylor (Sue) and Iona Ellis (David).
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jeannette Colver and LeRoy Taylor.
Visitation will be held on May 29, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Speaks Suburban Chapel, located at 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, Missouri 64055. Following this, a Funeral Service will take place on May 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Pebble Creek Church, situated at 3711 S Whitney Ave, Independence, Missouri 64055.
