James Andrew Thomas, 85 of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at his residence. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence, MO. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the Speaks Suburban Chapel.
James was born June 23, 1940 in Prim, Arkansas to Louis Bivin and Mary Adaline (Lewellen) Thomas and spent his early life in Arkansas be for relocatin to the Kansas City area where he worked for GM Assembly Plant as a welder for over 30 years before he retired in 1988.
He enjoyed Hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.
He is survived by; a daughter, Pam Overfelt of Warsaw, MO; a brother, Glenn Thomas of Cameron, MO; 2 sisters, Lois Hipp and Joyce Hipp both of Prim, AR; 2 grandchildren, David Overfelt (Megan) and Bryan Overfelt (Jessica); 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda Thomas in 2013, 2 brothers, Bill and Bob Thomas and 2 sisters, Wanda Carlton and Mary Carlton.
