Jane Marie Richards

Jane Marie Richards, born Jane Marie Crosby on July 2, 1943, in Lansing, Kansas, to Hugh and Pansy Crosby, passed on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the age of 81. Jane is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Thomas Parker Richards, who passed earlier this year. Jane and Tom have three surviving children, Paul, Ann, and Aaron Richards; as well as six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. They were adored as Grammy and Papa, providing warmth, love, and acceptance for each generation lucky enough to know them.

Jane spent most of her life serving in her community of Independence, Missouri, where she and her husband owned Richards Sunfresh (previously Richards IGA and Richards United Super), an intergenerational family business and community touchstone for nearly fifty years. Jane was happiest when she was helping others, and she received multiple community awards for her efforts to serve through local organizations and the Community of Christ Church.

Visitation will be held at 2pm on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Speaks Chapel, 18020 East 39th Street South, in Independence, Missouri, with service to begin at 3pm.
