Janet Maureen Clark of Independence, Missouri passed away on October 10, 2024 at the age of 85 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence. Maureen was born on August 26, 1939 in Harrison County, Missouri and focused her life on her family, her church, and her nursing profession.
Maureen was a graduate of North Harrison High School and then the registered nurse program at the Independence Sanitarium & Hospital School of Nursing in 1960. Along the way she met Wayne Clark from Kansas and they were married on August 8, 1959.
Professionally, there was hardly an area of nursing she didn’t work in, from pediatrics and emergency medicine, to post-anesthesia, and as a public school nurse. Maureen’s personal files included many notes and letters commending the exceptional care she gave her patients. Privately, Maureen was about family, friends, and her gardens. She looked forward to holidays, visits with family, and social events with church friends. She maintained all her flowers, vegetables, and landscapes, and even faithfully watered her new grass until the end.
Maureen and Wayne did quite a bit of traveling, especially after the kids were grown. Most notably Colorado and the autumn leaves of New England were their favorites. She would use any excuse to visit and create memories with her grandson. She also enjoyed playing the piano.
Maureen’s passing is preceded by her husband Wayne Clark, her parents Maurice and Ada (Guilliams) Weable, and siblings Vane Weable, Charlotte (Weable) Frazier and Barbara (Weable) Craig. She is survived by family: her son Michael Clark and wife Donna, her daughter Michele (Clark) Arnold and husband Grant, her brother Bill Weable, and her grandson Shaun Clark, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
