Janet Lou (Dore) Jackson, age 91, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2026, at Westbury Senior Living in Columbia, Missouri.

She was born September 1, 1935, in Kansas City, Missouri, daughter of the late Lou Eva (Estes) and William Landon Dore.

She resided in Independence, Missouri for over sixty-five years and lived a life marked by faith and devotion to her family. She was a member of Rockwood Baptist Church and had deep affection for her church family. She was a devoted and loving mother. She was an advocate for children, donating her time to church and PTA.

She was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. She enjoyed traveling.

She and her husband owned haircare businesses including salons, professional products, and a barber college.

She was a cherished grandmother and great grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved cooking for them and shopping with them. She especially treasured spending Christmas with them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Lester Allen Jackson, Jr. in 2008.

She is survived by her two children; Greg Jackson (Paula) of Columbia, Missouri; and Cheryl Hayden (Tim) also of Columbia, Missouri;

Three grandchildren; Lindsey Engemann (Ryan) of Hermann, Missouri; Mitchell Jackson (Stacie) of Cudahy, Wisconsin; and Mary Piercey (Austin) of Fulton, Missouri;

Five great grandchildren; Grace Engemann, Jackson Engemann, Andy Engemann, Lauryn Piercey, and Paisley Jackson.

Janet will be greatly missed and forever remembered by her family and friends.

Services to honor Janet’s life will be held at Carson-Speaks Chapel on Tuesday, September 15. A visitation will take place from 9 am to 10 am, and a funeral service will begin at 10 am. A graveside service will immediately follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home at 11300 St Charles Rock Road, Bridgeton, MO 63044 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
