Janis Darlene Srader

Janis Srader, age 92, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2024 with her loved ones by her side.

Janis Darlene Mann was born on July 14, 1931 to Clarence and Ada Mann in Independence, MO.  She was united in marriage to Paul Eugene Srader on December 26, 1947 and they were married for almost 45 years.  

Janis enjoyed gardening, sewing, woodworking, painting, stenciling, and crafts.  She hosted weekly art classes in her basement with her closest friends.  These classes provided her family and friends with many cherished pieces to remember her by.   She loved singing while playing the organ.  Janis took great pleasure in caring for her beloved cats.  Bad Boy, Roadie, Tootie, and Minnie Pearl were just some of her most adored cats’ names.  Her house was always stocked with pretzels and candy for her grandkids.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Srader, daughter, Dana (Srader) Fidler and parents, Clarence Mann and Ada (Moore) Mann.  

Janis is survived by her brother, Robert Mann (Patricia), son, David Srader (Peggy), grandchildren David Christopher Srader (Asia), Megan (Mike) Ford, Stephanie Srader, Sara Srader, Daniel (Amanda) Srader and 8 great-grandchildren.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055.  The visitation is Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 10:00 am.  Burial will occur immediately following the funeral at Woodlawn Cemetery at 701 S. Noland Road, Independence, MO 64050.  

In lieu of sending flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Diabetes Association.
