Jean Anne Mitchell McAllister, age 75, passed away peacefully on August 8 at Centerpoint Hospital in Independence, Missouri. She loved her family and her friends! In recent years she would say, "I had the best family growing up, and I miss them!" She grew up in a loving family with lots of great aunts, great uncles, and cousins whom she saw often and who all got together every holiday, as most of them lived in the Kansas City area. She grew up attending Englewood Baptist Church in Gladstone, Missouri, graduated in 1968 from Oak Park High School, and lived and worked most of her adult life "north of the river" in Gladstone and North Kansas City, MO . She had been Sr. Account clerk at Damon Pursell Construction company in Liberty, MO, but retired years later as a receptionist for Dr. Thomas C. Thomas, family medicine, also in Liberty. She liked to read (especially Sherlock Holmes stories), garden, watch scary movies with friends, shop, cook, and make the "famous" family fudge. She was known for being "feisty" with a great sense of humor. She loved to laugh and make others laugh. She was known for speaking her mind, but had a good and caring heart. Jean Anne was a wonderful mother and deeply loved her little son, Jeffrey, who passed away in 1984 at age 6. He was the light of her life, and remained the light of her life until she passed. In recent years, she doted on her cute little Scotty dog, who she aptly named "Haggis". She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey, and her parents, Woodrow "Woody" J Mitchell and Aileen Isabel Maxwell Mitchell. There will be an informal time to reflect on and celebrate her life at her gravesite in Mt Washington Cemetery (section 17) in Independence, MO on Saturday, August 22, at 3:30 pm.
