Margaret Ann Jeffries, 84, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Friday, April 24th, 2015. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 28th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 29th at St. Mark's Church, 3736 S. Lee's Summit Road, Independence, MO. Final resting place, Mt. Elliot Cemetery, Detroit, MI.
Margaret was born December 4, 1930 in Detroit, MI as the only child to Anthony J. and Edna (Richard) Kwiatkowski. She graduated from St. Stanislaus High School in Detroit Michigan. Afterwards she worked for the City of Detroit, Ford Motor Company, and as an Executive Secretary for United Steel Workers until her retirement in 1996. She married her beloved Louis John Jeffries on October 28, 1951 and together they raised five children. They enjoyed racing and sail boating. She and her family moved to Missouri in 1983. Her husband was laid to rest on January 9, 1985. She was a life long Catholic who was a member of St. Mark’s since 1983. She was also an avid Democrat and participated in conventions and rallys. She was also the President of the League of Women Voters. She was passionate about competitive ballroom dancing, and recently she enjoyed scrabble, crossword and board games, and feeding birds off her deck. Her family remembers her as loving, supportive, sweet, faithful, and always the eternal optimist. Margaret is loved and will be missed.
Survivors include, daughter Roxanne Kelly and husband Paul; daughter, Joyce Schlachter; son, Jim Jeffries and wife Joanne; daughter, Marilyn Almaguer and husband Michael; son, John Jeffries and wife Brenda; grandchildren, Erin and Jeffrey Kelly, Guy and Eva Schlachter, Charlotte, Olivia, Grant, Grace, and Rennie Jeffries, and Maximilan Almaguer; and special friend of 23 years, Dennis Nelson.
