Melba Jean Jeffries

Melba Jean Jeffries, 84, Independence, MO passed away March 13, 2015. Services will be 10 am, Thursday, March 19 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 - 8 pm, Wed. at the chapel. Melba was born July 20, 1930 in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Buckner High School.

She was an LPN at Independence Regional Hospital and also worked at Sears and Turner Music. She was a member of the Atherton Restoration Branch and had sung in the choir. Melba was preceded in death by her husband Nile Jeffries. She is survived by sons Norman Jeffries, North Kansas City, MO; Nile O. Jeffries and wife Jennifer, Sibley, MO: Raymond Jeffries, Grain Valley, MO; brothers Roy Beck and wife Betty, Independence, MO; Bob Beck and wife Sue, Sibley, MO; Charles Beck, Independence, MO; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
