John W. Jenkins, 70, of Independence passed away September 15, 2015 with his loving and devoted family by his side. Visitation will be from 10-11 am, Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Services will follow at 11am at the Chapel. John was born on September 20, 1944 in Kansas City, Kansas to Amos and Laura (Sterrett) Jenkins. On July 14, 1969, he married the love of his life, Soteria Denise Koklas. They were blessed with 2 daughters. John owned and operated his own trucking company for many years until his health forced him to retire. He then devoted his life to his children and grandchildren. John enjoyed gardening, fishing, shooting guns, his motorcycle, but most of all his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Survivors include: wife of 46 years, Terri; daughter Lori (John) Travers; daughter Tina (Brent) Cully; grandchildren Joshua Wayne Bass, Jacob John Bass, John Michael Travers; Ava Soteria Cully, and Sophie Alexandra Cully; sisters Shirley Ellenberger and Pat Turley.
