Jeremy Chad Wynne, of Lee’s Summit, MO, adored son and loyal KC sports fan, passed away far too soon on May 25, 2025, after a short illness. He was 39.
Jeremy was born on November 30, 1985, in Kansas City, MO to Steve and Terri (Williams) Wynne.
As a child, Jeremy lived on his bicycle, became a fish when in water and slugged for the little league Dodgers while they lived in Anaheim Hills, CA. At the age of 7, everything changed as he developed generalized dystonia, limiting his movement and speech. Overcoming painful and exhausting treatments and surgeries, Jeremy became a young man happy for others in their abilities. He was never jealous of others being able to do what he couldn’t.
Jeremy graduated from Blue Springs High School in 2007. He became an honorary member of the Blue Springs Wildcat football team under the leadership of Coach Kelly Donohoe through high school and for many years following graduation. In 2020, Coach Donohoe asked Jeremy to transfer with him to Rockhurst to begin a new legacy there. You could always find Jeremy, home games or away, down on the field under the Friday night lights.
Immediately after graduating high school, Jeremy found his new place and purpose with Developing Potential, Inc. (DPI). They provide quality day habilitation services to adults with developmental disabilities and support those individuals to reach their potential and achieve a dignified, adult lifestyle. He looked forward to going to DPI every day to be with his friends. Jeremy wasn’t just a loyal sports spectator. He was an active member of his Exceptionals Softball team in Blue Springs for over 20 years. Every spring, you could find Jeremy as Catcher behind the dish then rounding the bases and getting out of his wheelchair to slide into home called “Safe!” to the cheers of his many fans.
Jeremy is preceded in death by his grandparents, Leroy and Annie Mae Wynne and Robert “Willie” and Jeanne Williams, as well as, his uncle, Jerry Wynne. He is survived by his devoted parents, Steve and Terri Wynne; brothers, Zach (Brittney) Wynne and Josh (Heather) Wynne; aunts and uncles, Debbie and Jim Crossley; Jonie and Jeff Gann and Heidi Wynne, numerous cousins with their spouses and children, and his beloved Bengal cat, Cheetah.
A visitation will be held from 9:30-11am, Saturday May 31st with a funeral service following at 11am, both at Lee’s Summit Bible Church, 1200 NE Colbern Rd.; Lee's Summit, MO 64086.
Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite sports team’s casual apparel to honor what Jeremy would love.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Developing Potential, Inc., 251 NW Executive Way, Suite 200, Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64063.
