Jerry Paul Rice was called home on Monday, January 12, 2026. He was 91 years old. Jerry was born to Charlene and T.P. Rice on December 3, 1934, in Jefferson City, MO.
Jerry was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, teacher, pastor, and dear friend. He married the love of his life, Winnie Kilpatrick, on June 22, 1962, and they spent 61 incredible years creating memories together until Winnie's passing in 2023. Jerry's love was contagious, and he often referenced Proverbs 17:6, saying "my grandchildren are this old man's crown." He spent his life serving his Lord and his country in the US Air Force. He also helped to start three churches and four Christian schools in his lifetime. He accomplished this all while taking care of his family, raising two children and one foster child. Jerry spread love and wisdom to others every day of his life, even when lecturing a wayward pupil.
Jerry is survived by his son, Patrick Rice (Angela), and grandchildren, Heather Hoskins (Grant), William "Will" Rice (Kelsey), Ainsley Rice, Kathryn Rice, Cassandra Chavez (Sergio), Matthew Rice (Miranda), Alissa Rice, Andrew Rice, Vanessa MonBarren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Michael Rice, granddaughter Emily Rice, great-grandson Avery Wayman and great-great-granddaughters Ari Yankey and Esme Yankey.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24 at Englewood Church, 10628 E. Winner Rd, Independence from 1-2pm. Funeral service will begin at 2pm. Interment will follow at Mount Washington Cemetery in Independence, Missouri.
