Jerry Walter Wayne Thompson Jr., passed away unexpectedly on December 26, 2025, in his hometown of Independence, Missouri. He was 41 years old. Jerry was born on November 12, 1984, to Jerry and Dana (Turner) Thompson Sr.
Jerry graduated from Blue Springs High School in 2002, and shone brightly as a standout football player. He carried his passion for sports into college, where he continued to play for two more years. His love for sports extended beyond the field as he enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Missouri Tigers, with family and friends.
Jerry was the owner and operator of CDR Construction Company. His professional journey took him across the country to undertake various projects. He was always ready to tackle new challenges head-on. His outgoing nature and generous spirit made him a respected figure in the construction community.
At the core of Jerry's life were his family and friends. Jerry was a vibrant soul whose personality could light up any room. He was outgoing, fun, loving, and generous. He cherished spending quality time with his family and creating memories. In addition to his family, Jerry enjoyed playing video games and listening to classic and alternative rock music.
Jerry's generosity and caring nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him, making every interaction memorable and special for family and friends alike.
Jerry is survived by his sons, Jaxon Thompson and Gavon Thompson; ex-wife, Misty Thompson; sisters, Brandy Johnson (Cody) and Brook Sedano (Robbie) along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Thompson Sr. and Dana (Turner) Thompson.
A visitation in honor of Jerry will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Speaks Suburban Chapel, located at 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, MO 64055. A memorial service celebrating his life will take place on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, beginning at 2:00 PM at the same location.
