Jessie May Borland

Jessie May Borland passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025 at home. Jessie was born May 26,1939 to Arthur and Dorothea Stewart.

She attended Central High School in Kansas City Missouri and graduated in 1957.

She married Jimmie Lane Borland Sr on August 30, 1958, and to this union were born 2 children Jimmie Jr in 1966 and Jan in 1967.

Jessie was a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 30 years, retiring in 1999. Before her employment delivering mail she worked at the Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City Missouri.

She was a member of the Community of Christ church and attended the New Walnut Park congregation. She loved making stocking hats for charities through the church and family and friends waited with anticipation on special occasions for Jessies greeting cards she made by hand. Her and Jim also loved to do some travelling in their 5th wheel and also spent 10 years in Arizona during the winter.

Jessie is survived by her husband Jim Sr, son Jim Jr and daughter Jan Chambers all of Independence Missouri, her sister Ilene and her husband Larry and their children Laura and Marci all of Chanute Kansas their son Eric and wife Libbie and their children of Virginia Beach VA and daughter Stephanie of Winfield KS. She also leaves beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren Corey Chambers and his wife Kelsey and their 3 daughters Kaylee, Brooklynn and Lily from Pleasant Hill MO, Austin Borland and his wife Kendall and their first baby girl on the way, Tyler Borland and his wife Ashton and their son Westin, as well as her Sister in Law Barbara Borland and Daughter in Law Jennifer Borland all of which are in the Kansas City Area, as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends,

She was preceded in death by her Father and Mother Arthur and Dorothea Stewart on Independence MO.

All services and dinner will be conducted at the New Walnut Park Community of Christ church at 1137 S Pearl in Independence MO 64050 on Saturday December 20th, 2025. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 with the service following at 11:00 am. After the service graveside service will be held at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence. Dinner to follow at New Walnut Park for those that would like to join the family.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Central Mission coat program that provides coats to those in need. Donations can be sent to “Central Mission Center” attn coat fund at 500 W Pacific Independence MO 64050.
