Jewel Mae Smith

Jewel Mae Smith, 70, of El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away on July 14, 2025, at University Hospital in Columbia, MO. Jewel was born on November 18, 1954, to Lloyd and Annabell Smith.

Jewel graduated from Fort Osage High School in 1973 and was united in marriage to Roger K. Smith. From this union, a daughter and son were born: Andrea and Chad. Jewel spent her life working for and with various veterinary and animal shelter groups and always enjoyed caring for animals. Jewel also had a passion for crafting, specifically miniatures, and enjoyed creating dollhouses. She especially loved a good thrift store or antique mall.

Jewel was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Connie Hoagenson, Donna Karst, and Kathey Collins.

Jewel is survived by her children, Andrea (Mark) Munson and Chad Smith; her sister, Rowena (Joe) Desmedt; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Rebecca Munson; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to your favorite animal shelter in memory of Jewel.
