John Wilson Welsh

John Wilson Welsh, age 82, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2026. He was born one of six children on October 27, 1943, in Galesburg, Illinois, to Wm. Robert Welsh and Lula Mae Welsh.

John is survived by two brothers: Robert Welsh and his companion Pat Stevens and David Welsh and his companion MaryAnn Satterfield, all of Naples, Florida; his sister, Marjorie Mitchell, and her husband Robert, of Wichita Falls, Texas; and his sister‑in‑law Barbra Welsh, wife of his late brother Lawerence Welsh, of Independence, Missouri and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. John was preceded in death by his parents, Wm. Robert and Lula Mae Welsh; his wife, Nancy Welsh; and his brothers Lawerence Welsh and James Welsh, sister in-laws Vicki Welsh (wife of David), Louanna Welsh (wife of James) and Donna Welsh (wife of Robert).

After serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam armed conflict as an American radio operator attached to a South Korean unit, John returned home and resumed his career in the grocery business. He later transitioned into retail, joining Dillard’s, where he spent 23 years and advanced into management. Following his long tenure with Dillard’s, John completed his working career with Speaks Chapels.

John and Nancy endured a life‑changing auto accident that left him with permanent injuries. Even so, John showed remarkable strength, rebuilding his life, returning to work, and continuing to provide for him and Nancy with steady dedication.

John and Nancy were married for 52 years, a partnership marked by devotion, resilience, and shared adventure. They traveled widely, taking cruises to places many only dream of visiting. Yet the greatest joy of their later years was the time they spent at their home on the Lake of the Ozarks. For fifteen years, the lake became their sanctuary — a place of quiet mornings, easy days, and the kind of contentment that comes from a life well‑lived together.

Special thanks are extended to Robin Morris, Mike Hoskins, Butch Welsh, David Welsh, and Sherry George for the kind and attentive care they gave to John during his final time. Their support and compassion meant more than words can express. Rest in peace dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel with inurnment to follow in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time Tuesday at the chapel.
