John Ryland Wulfekammer, 88, of Plano, TX, formerly of Pittsburg, KS and Joplin, MO, passed away on March 28, 2026 in Plano, TX. He was born April 25, 1937, in Napoleon, MO, the son of Lee and Mary Wulfekammer. On August 27, 1961, he was united in marriage to Sharon Ann (Bergschneider) Wulfekammer in Buckner, MO. She preceded him in death on July 14, 2016.
He attended Lexington High School in Lexington, MO, and Wentworth Military Academy, also of Lexington and later served in the Air Force. He received his higher education, degree in Biology, from Fort Hays State College (University), Hays, KS.
John farmed for many years and later pursued a career as a pharmaceutical sales representative, serving McKesson, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). He was a longtime active member of the Masonic Lodge and Mirza Shriners in Pittsburg, KS. John had a great love of cooking, cars, and travel. John and Sharon were also past active members of Mended Hearts in Joplin.
John is survived by one son, Eric Wulfekammer and his wife, Vicki, of Plano, TX; two grandsons, Alex Wulfekammer of Amarillo, TX and Nathan Wulfekammer of Dallas, TX; and one sister-in-law, Donna Battles of Buckner, MO. He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Amy Grimes, Tom Grimes, and Greg Grimes, Lara Battles, Darin Battles, Debra Rossman, Jenna Berg, Kevin Bergschneider, and Sherry Wallace.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sharon Ann Wulfekammer; his sister, Shirley Grimes; brothers-in-law, Fred Grimes, Ethan Bergschneider, Beryl Bergschneider, and Larry Battles; sisters-in-law, Leanna Bergschneider and Mona Bergschneider. Internment will take place at the Buckner Hill Cemetery, Buckner, MO. The family suggests memorials to the Shriners Hospital for Children, St. Louis, MO (Donate in Memory).
