John Daniel Zevecke

John Daniel Zevecke, a beloved resident of Sugar Creek, Missouri, passed away on September 28, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on August 21, 1936, in Sugar Creek, Missouri to George and Mary (Balko) Zevecke, John was one of twelve children. He dedicated over 40 years of his life to maintaining the city he cherished so deeply.

Throughout his lifetime, John was known not only for his hard work but also for his humor and kindness, John had a unique ability to uplift those around him. He enjoyed speaking in rhymes and often expressed his philosophy on life with the words, "if it makes them feel better, it makes me feel better." His ability to uplift those around him left a mark on the hearts of many.

John's interests extended far beyond his career. He enjoyed traveling across the United States, making memorable trips, including a journey to the British Columbia, Canada. A passionate outdoorsman, he found joy in hunting and was a devoted fan of sports, especially baseball, and the Kansas City Chiefs. His love for country western music was evident, with Ray Price being his favorite artist. John was known to be the first one on the dance floor at weddings, showcasing his moves with contagious enthusiasm.

His legacy of kindness and positivity will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.

John is survived by his siblings, Jerry Zevecke, Margaret Kleihauer, Maria Ramirez and Ronnie Zevecke; he is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Mary Zevecke; siblings, George Zevecke Jr., Mildred Faber, Shirley Zevecke, Steve Zevecke, Judy Allfree, Bob Zevecke and Michael Zevecke; and brother-in-laws, John “Duke” Kleihauer and Julio Sr.

John's life will be celebrated at Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence, Missouri. Visitation will be held on October 3, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM. He will then be laid to rest at Mound Grove Cemetery.
