Joseph Johnson

Joseph Harold Johnson, 89, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, August 7, 2009 at his home. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Mound Grove Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Independence Lunch Partners Program. Joe was born January 14, 1920 in Kansas City, KS to Joseph Lee and Marie (Tucker) Johnson. He was united in marriage on March 14, 1944 to Ellen (Taylor) Johnson and shared 65 years of happiness together. Mr. Johnson proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel, having served overseas in Italy, Japan and Okinawa in WWII. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Joe is survived by his wife Ellen; nephew Larry Clark; niece Marlene Jeffers and their families. He was preceded in death by his sisters Marjorie Clark and Agnes Smith.
