Julia “Judy” Margaret Johnson, 63 of Buckner, MO passed away Sat. Apr. 12, 2008 at her home. Services will be 1:00 pm Wed. Apr. 16, 2008 at the First Christian Church in Buckner, MO. Burial in Floral Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 �" 8:00 pm, Tuesday at the Speaks Buckner Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions to The Ford Osage Alumni Association PO Box 182, Buckner, MO 64016. Judy was born on Jun. 5, 1944 to Thornton and Phyllis (James) Johnson in Kansas City, MO. She had resided in Buckner, MO all her life. She graduated from Fort Osage High School in 1962 and attended the University of Missouri of Kansas City. She worked for Sears and Roebuck, Armco/Union Wire Rope, and most recently Sprint. Judy is known as the “Buckner Historian”. She was Co-Chairman on the “1975 Centennial Commemorative Book”. Judy was co-contributor to the book “In The Beginning-How the Fort Osage Schools Began”. She compiled the “Historical Review of Buckner, Missouri �" 125 Years of Progress”. She contributed articles frequently to several local newspapers, and lent her historical insight to several other books of western Missouri. Presently she had been working on her own book “Families of Eastern Jackson County”. Years of research have gone into this book. It will be printed in the near future by family and close friends. She has been a wealth of knowledge. Judy had been active in the Buckner community her entire life. Selected to serve on the Buckner Hill Cemetery Board, 2001 Committee, Buckner Planning and Zoning, President and board member of the Fort Osage Alumni Association. President of the local American Cancer Society, Grand Marshall of the Lewis and Clark Days. She was a member of the Buckner Christian Church. A member of the Jackson County Historical Society, member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the American Business Women. In 1978 she received the Outstanding Young Woman of the Year Award from the Fort Osage Jaycee Wives. She leaves two brothers, Tom Johnson of Buckner and Jim Johnson and wife Rose Mary of Blue Springs. An aunt, Willa Johnson of Buckner, Cousins Michael Johnson of Oklahoma and Janet Smith of Buckner. And a host of other family and friends around the country.
