Norris W. “John” Johnson, 75, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Golden Living Center. Cremation. Graveside services with full military honors will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2009 at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice. John was born September 4, 1933 in Clarissa, MN to Clarence and Ruby (Bartelt) Johnson. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from ’52-’57, where he was awarded many medals for his marksmanship. John retired from Yellow Freight System after 25 years of dedicated service. He is survived by his wife Carolyn (Jones) Johnson; daughter Kari Kimball and husband Steve; son Lee Johnson and wife Patty; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers Larry, Calvin and Rodney Johnson; sisters Arlene Ambuehl, and Judy Nelson. He is also survived by his companion of 23 years Maxine and his beloved dog, Pee Wee.
