Amy Elizabeth Jones, 82, passed away on May 8, 2015 in Lees Summit, MO.
A visitation will be held from 6-8:00pm Monday, May 11, 2015 at St. Marks Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lees Summit Rd, with a Rosary said at 5:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 12 at the church. Amy will be laid to rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Kansas City, MO.
Amy was born May 26, 1932, in Winwood, MO, to Clyde Samuel and Inis Elizabeth (O’Neill) McConnell. She met Leland Gerald Jones when she was a teenager, and later married him. She was a carhop, babysat neighborhood children, but above all was a domestic engineer in her own home - she and Leland were blessed with eleven children. She loved the hustle and bustle of a full house, but savored the peaceful moments with Leland. When the children were put to bed, on occasion she and her husband would share a candy bar while watching a movie on the family couch. She was the foundation of the household, and will be very much missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by 10 children: Teresa (John) Irons, Chris Tallaferro, Steve Jones, James (Michelle) Jones, Gerald Jones, Greg (Vicky) Jones, Amy Dell, Donna (Tim) Ryan, Mark Jones, and Leland Jones II; 62 grandchildren; brother, Sam (Patty) McConnell; sister, Regina Caldwell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Leland; daughter, Mary Francis; 4 grandchildren; one brother, Clyde McConnell; and 5 sisters: Francis Motter, Katherine Recob, Mary Jeanne Aufner, Marie Neyman, and Loretta Bradley. Family suggests contributions be made to Crossroads Hospice in Amy’s memory.
