Delbert “Pops” Jones, 92, Independence, MO passed away Monday, October 10, 2011.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 14, 2011 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Floral Hills Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Delbert was born May 8, 1919 in Denison, TX the son of Hiram Henry and Flora (Whitted) Jones. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII, having served as a tail gunner in the South Pacific. Delbert retired in 1984 from the USPS as a letter carrier and continued to work with his son at D&D Automotive in Independence until recently. He was a member of the Raytown Church of Christ, where he had served as a deacon. Delbert enjoyed reading, and was an avid Chief’s fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife Reatha Nadine Jones; daughter, Diane Jones; two brothers; one sister and his parents.
Survivors include his son, David R. Jones and his wife Cheri; grandchildren, Rebecca, Cassandra and Carly; and sister in law, Bettie Bossaller.
