Delmar L. Jones, 84, of Independence, MO passed away March 9, 2011 at St. Luke’s East Hospital. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at Six Mile Baptist Church, 26005 E. Blue Mills Rd., Sibley, MO. Burial to follow at New Salem Cemetery. Delmar was born August 18, 1926 in Exeter, MO to Joe and Amanda Jones. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. Delmar married Norine Smith on October 18, 1947. He worked at the General Motors Fairfax Plant for 30 years, where he retired. He was an active member of Six Mile Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, and a Sunday School Director for 35 years. He enjoyed gardening, traveling with Norine, their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also passionate about serving the Lord. Delmar was preceded in death by three brothers; and four sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Norine Jones of the home; two daughters, Patty Keever and husband Jerry, Kathy Mosley and husband Danny, all of Independence, MO; two grandchildren, Angela Fields and husband Larry, Justin Billingsley; two great grandchildren, Antoinette Hoke and Alexis Stapleton; and three sisters, Leota Lyles, Chirstine Davidson and Carolyn Charles. He will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Six Mile Baptist Church.
