Essel Jones

Essel William Jones passed away at the Groves in Independence, Missouri on March 25, 2010. He was born to Edward and Cecil Mary (Koons) Jones, on December 25, 1918 in Bosworth, Missouri. Essel married his love, Ethel (Barnes) Jones on June 18th, 1940 and together they had three children: Ronald W. Jones, Merrick W. Jones and James Lee Jones. Essel was preceded in death by his son, Ronald W. Jones and grandson, Merrick W. Jones, Jr. Essel was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European theater.
Essel leaves behind his wife Ethel, Daughter-in-law Marie Jones, son Merrick W. Jones, son James Lee Jones and wife Becky, Grandchildren: William Casey Jones and wife Thuha, Rhonda Gomez, Matthew Jones and wife Sherri, Teleasa Cranfill, Amy Jones, Shawn Jones and girlfriend Sherry, James Lee Jones, Jr. and wife Chris, Cassidy Jones and many great and great great grandchildren. Essel leaves behind nephew Mike Maggard and wife Brenda, Paul Maggard and wife Matilda, Dennis Fish and wife Collen and many other nephews and nieces. He was well loved and leaves behind many, many friends.
Essel will be sorely missed and long remembered by those who loved him, but mostly by his wife and companion of Sixty-Nine happy years.
Many thanks to the Staff at Rosewood at the Groves and Crossroads Hospice for all of the care received.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Monday, March the 29, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, Missouri. A Memorial service will follow at 10:00 AM at the same location.
