Wm Howard Jones, 93, Independence, MO passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Kansas City Hospice House.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Fairmount Christian Church; 641 S. Ash, Independence, MO. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Friday, November 13, 2009 at Clyde Cemetery, Clyde, TX. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Kansas City Hospice House; 12000 Wornall Rd. Kansas City, MO 64145.
He was born September 10, 1916 in Sedalia, MO. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and was awarded the WWII Service Medal from the State of Missouri. He retired in 1967 from the GM Fairfax Plant as the head maintenance painter. Howard was a member of the Fairmount Christian Church and served as an Elder. He was a life long participant of the Boy Scouts, serving as Cub Master, Scout Master, a member of the Mic-O-Say Tribal Council and was awarded the National Silver Beaver Award.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jones in 2000.
Survivors include his son, Richard Jones and his wife Linda of Overland Park, KS; granddaughter, Richell Nordhaus and her husband David of Nolandsville, TN; grandson, Brandon Jones and his wife Marci of Grand Rapids, MI; great grandsons, Julian Nordhaus, Braeden Dempsey, and Daniel Jones; great granddaughters, Ashleigh Dempsey, Paulina Nordhaus, Monica Jones and Olivia Jones; sister in law, Avonne Johnson, Abilene, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
