John Jones

John Allan Jones, 64, of Holden, MO, passed away November 18, 2012, suddenly of a heart attack while deer hunting in Warsaw, MO. John was born December 26, 1947 in Independence, MO to Joseph Ted Jones and Pearl (Richardson) Jones. He graduated from East High School in 1965. He served in the Army with the 1st Air Cavalry in Vietnam from 1968-1970. John grew up in Independence and moved to Holden in 1989. John had been employed by Peterson Manufacturing Company in Grandview, MO for many years. He was a knife maker, attending and participating in knife shows throughout the Midwest, having won awards for his beautiful work. He was also an avid hunter including bow and arrow. He loved the outdoors, riding his motorcycle and participating in knife shows with his friends of many years. John was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Jones; and his parents. He is survived by one sister, Jo Ann McInnes of Independence, MO; nephew, Dr. David A. McInnes of Jacksonville, FL; great niece and nephew, Mallory McInnes of Miami, FL and Joseph McInnes of Bremen, Germany; stepson, Larry Robert McDowell; and step granddaughter, Shayla McDowell. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. service on Monday, November 26, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Holden City Cemetery, Holden, MO.
