Ted C. Jones, 88, of Independence, MO passed away November 17, 2008 at the VA Medical Center, Kansas City, MO. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 21, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, MO. Entombment will take place at the Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Ted was born November 26, 1919 in Kansas City, MO to Charles Walter and Lois Norma (Winget) Jones. He spent 67 years with the love of his life, Velma L. Jones, whom he married on April 12, 1941. He was a decorated WWII Veteran, serving from 1941-1945 in the U.S. Army. He served in the Headquarter Company, 8th Corps and received five company stars, including Omaha Beach and the Battle of Bastogne, Belgium. In 1982, after 27 years, Ted retired from Allis Chalmers. He is survived by his wife, Velma L. Jones; two sons, Ted “Joe” Jones and wife Diane of Newbury, N.H., Ed Jones and wife Carolyn of Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Jacquelyn and husband David Bogdan of Lenexa, KS; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and one brother, Dick Jones.
