Paula Kay Jorgensen, 52, of Blue Springs, MO passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at her home. Paula was born April 4, 1958 to Dean and Betty (Kelly) Ellison in Fairfax, MO. She graduated from Richmond High School and then married Jeffrey Jorgensen. Together they raised two sons. Paula was a second mother to many of the children to whom she provided in-home daycare to. She served as President of the Blue Springs Child Care Association and served in other capacities for many years. Most recently, Paula was employed by OOIDA in Grain Valley as an assistant in the underwriting department. Paula was an avid reader, loved movies, and enjoyed card games. She will be missed for her patience and optimistic nature by all who knew and loved her. Paula was preceded in death by her mother Betty Ellison and sister Wanda Jean Ellison. She is survived by her husband of 32 years Jeff Jorgensen; son Ryan Jorgensen, wife Josey, and their son Chandler; son Jared Jorgensen; father Dean Ellison; sisters: Patty Ellison and Penny Smith and husband Chuck; nephew Chaz Smith and wife Toni; and a host of extended family and many friends.
A visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM Saturday, January 8 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence. Services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 9 at Community of Christ Woods Chapel Congregation, 500 Woods Chapel Rd., Lee’s Summit. Burial to follow at Blue Springs Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to either Community of Christ Woods Chapel Congregation or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
