Joseph Raymond Meyer

Joseph Raymond “Joe” Meyer passed away on June 13, 2024, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on June 7, 1934, in Glasgow, Missouri, son to Leo August and Virginia M. (Hontz) Meyer. Joe served in the army and his passion for serving others extended beyond his military duties into the automotive world where he brought joy to many through his skills, knowledge and hard work. Joe worked as a mechanic and service manager for many years, even passed retirement you would find him working in his shop.

Described as someone who could be ornery at times but was ultimately loving, smart, and faithful, Joe leaves behind a legacy of hard work and dedication; hobbies included car racing, woodworking creating beautiful angels and birdhouses to gift to loved ones, fishing when he could find the time, and collecting toy cars. Joe was always tinkering with something to bring joy to those around him.

Joe’s proudest accomplishments were his family. He is survived by his daughter, Connie (Anthony) Martinez; grandson, Tyler (Kara) Meyer; great grandchildren, Lane Meyer, Whitley Meyer, Weston Meyer; daughter in law, Christi Meyer; step grandchildren, Amanda (Bret) Rife, Shane (Brooke) Edwards; step great grandchildren, Matthew Rife, Daphne Rife. While they mourn his passing deeply, they also celebrate a life well-lived. Joe is preceded in death by his beloved wife Nancy; son, Lyle Meyer; granddaughter, Melanie Meyer; parents Leo and Virginia; brothers, John Meyer, Bill Meyer, Leo Meyer and Chuck Meyer.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM followed by a Funeral service at 10:00 AM, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, Missouri 64055. The graveside service will take place at Mt. Washington Cemetery following the services.

Joseph Raymond Meyer's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace knowing that he touched the lives of many with his warm heart and generous spirit.
