William Edward “Bill” Jowett, 72, of Kansas City, MO peacefully passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO 64052. Visitation will be from 1-2:30 p.m. in the chapel. Burial in McKendree Cemetery, Odessa, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 100, Kansas City, MO 64114. Bill was born August 27, 1938 in Milan, MI to Albert and Ruth (Simkiss) Jowett and was the step-son to Estella Jowett. He was united in marriage to Barbara Hale on August 26, 1957 and shared 53 years of happiness together. Mr. Jowett worked for Silver Bell Copper Mine and Arizona Portland Cement Company in Arizona. After moving back to Missouri, he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for various contractors and construction companies. Bill co-owned Pump Recon and Sibley Orchard. He retired from J.A. Tobin Construction and then co-owned Construction Equipment Services with his son David. Mr. Jowett is now with his best buddy, Brad Bradley. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Jowett; sons William Edward “Billy” Jowett, Jr. and his wife Kim, David Joe Jowett and his wife Angela; grandchildren Joshua and Jermiah Jowett, Lindsey Jowett Fricke and husband Travis, Christopher Jowett and fiancé Haley Brown, David and Cody Atkinson; and great-granddaughter Addison Brown; sister-in-law Mary Jowett; brother-in-law Robert Hale and wife Jean; and by several nieces, nephews and many special friends. Bill was preceded in death by his sister Lucy Pincomb; brother George Jowett.
