Harold Joy

Harold Edward Joy, 76 of Kansas City, MO, passed away, Sunday, May 12, 2013 at St. Luke’s Northland Hospital. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow in Blue Springs Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to KC Metro Special Olympics. Harold was born July 27, 1936 in Silva, MO to Victor and Juanita (Wakefield) Joy. He had worked for 32 years at the Lipton Tea Company retiring in 1991 as maintenance supervisor. Following his retirement he worked as a car parker for the Kansas City Royals for the past 3 years. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed KC Chiefs football, bowling and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Winterstone Golf Course and the Elks Lodge in Blue Springs, MO. He is survived by; his loving wife, Carole of the home; a daughter, Lesli Joy Bragg of Independence, MO; 4 step daughters, Cindy DeAngelo of Trimble, MO, Cathy Richardson and husband Randy of Eagle, ID, Judy Chandler and husband LaMont of Lee’s Summit, MO and Jennifer Tirpak of Kansas City, MO; 2 step sons, Robert Fitzpatrick and wife Diana of Independence, MO and David Fitzpatrick of Boise, ID; a brother, Howard Joy and his wife Sharon of Paragould, AR; a sister, Linda Berberick and her husband, Joe of Boise, ID; 2 grandchildren Ian Stewart Bragg and Madison Joy Bragg; 18 step grandchildren 15 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Elwood Joy.
