Joyce A. Bullimore

August 21, 1940 — December 6, 2023

Joyce A. Bullimore, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2023, in Independence, Missouri. She was born on August 21, 1940, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Joyce was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many with her feisty spirit and generous heart.

Joyce graduated from Lafayette High School. Her dedication to her education laid the foundation for her future successes. She joined Southern Bell Telephone and served as a cord board/directory assistance operator and retired after 27 years at the age of 51. Her commitment to her work and her professionalism were exemplary. Outside of her career, Joyce had a wide range of interests and hobbies that brought her joy throughout her life. She was an avid bowler and golfer, continuing to play golf well into her late seventies. She enjoyed traveling after retirement with Joe.  In her younger years, she was an excellent ice skater and even was invited to try out for the Ice Capades. She found solace in fishing, waterskiing, and spending time outdoors. The family lake house in the Ozarks held a special place in her heart as it provided endless opportunities for cherished moments with loved ones. Joyce also took pride in tending to her yard and beautifying it with her green thumb. Above all else, Joyce's proudest achievements were her children and grandchildren. No distance or obstacle could prevent her from being their biggest cheerleader at every game or event they participated in. Her unwavering support and love created an unbreakable bond within the family. Joyce's personality was as remarkable as her accomplishments. She possessed a kind heart filled with wit and charm that could light up any room she entered. Known for always being presentable, she rarely left the house without ensuring her hair and makeup were fixed perfectly. Joyce epitomized class and elegance in every aspect of her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents; James "Bus" and Genevieve Walters, her husband and absolute love of her life; Joe Bullimore, her brother; James "Jimmy" Walters, and her infant sister; Joy Walters. She is survived by her children; Joe Bullimore Jr. (Donna) and Julie Hayes (Chris), her siblings; Fred Walters (Kelly) and Fran Grable (John), and her grandchildren; Lauren Buck (Matt), Jacob Bullimore and his fiance, Julia, Ryan Bullimore, Izabel Castellano, and Alexandria Hayes.
