Joyce Marie Spears

Joyce M. Spears was born March 19th, 1936, in Everton Arkansas. She passed away August 30th, 2023 in Independence, Missouri surrounded by her family and long time companion Tony Schumacher.  Joyce departed this world with the love and Grace she exemplified to those she touched daily. Her love and passion was her family and public education, serving our children in the elementary and middle school years. Joyce was a teacher in the Blue Springs, Missouri public school district and loved the children she had the privilege of teaching for 22 years.  After retirement Joyce was elected to the Blue Springs Public School Board where she served for 12 years.  She was pre-deceased by her husband of of 35 years Voy Spears Jr.  Her parents, Dee and Stella Trammel; sister, Donna Mathis; brothers, Carl Dee and Dennis Trammell.  Her surviving family members are companion, Tony Schumacher; children, grandchildren , and great grandchildren: Charlotte , Jeff Rogers, Matt Rogers, Sarah, Blake, Riley, Cameryn, Brady, and Cody Bown.  Greg, Jennifer and Cristina Spears, James, Breanna, Palmer, Voy III, Colette Spears, Paul, Brittnee, Westlan, Airlie Spears, Samuel Spears, Dan, Erin, Ada, Simon Spears and brother, Leon Trammell.  

 

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 9th from 12-2pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel with burial to follow at Blue Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Valley Springs Foundation, PO Box 640, Valley Springs, AR. 72682.
