Joyce (Nance) Woodcock
Joyce Ann Woodcock, Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. She was 78, born March 3, 1948, in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the daughter of the late Pauline and Charlie Nance of Basehor, Kansas.
Joyce retired in 2002 after 20 years from the United States Penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kansas as an Investigative Technician. She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Blue Springs, Missouri. She was a supporter of SPCA and Paralyzed Veterans of America for many years and had a great love for animals. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Captain Jesse Leavenworth Chapter for many years; a Kansas City Chiefs season ticket holder for 24 years; volunteered at Great Plains SPCA in Independence, FindaGrave, and Human Animal Bond Therapy pets at Fort Leavenworth, KS with her dogs Smokie, Buddy, and Coco.
Joyce is survived by her nieces, Cheryl Nance-Knabenschuh (Jon) and their children, Taeson, Talyssa, and Tavyn of Vineyard, Utah and Sarah South (Brad) and their children Maddison, Reagan, Kennedy, and McKinley; grandson, Robert “Deuce” Woodcock, Jr. (Joslin) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; and her granddaughter, Gracie Woodcock, her dear friend, Amy Davenport. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Harry Robert Woodcock, who passed away in 2020, her son, Robert “Bobby” Kevin Woodcock, Sr., who passed away in 2023 and her dog Buster, who passed away in 2026, her parents Pauline and Charlie Nance, her brother, Charles Nance and her nephew, Charles Quinn Knabenschuh.
Cremation is planned with a private inurnment to be held at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence, MO. Joyce’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at KC Hospice for their excellent care. Arrangements were in care of Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence, MO (816) 373-3600.
